GOOD NEWS. . . . The PICTURE UPLOAD FUNCTION IS WORKING !!! The tech folks at the parent company have been able to remedy the issue. You can upload pictures once again. Thank you for your patience.
forged and cast are different methods of metal forming. each has its own quirks, strenths and weaknesses.
again
what motor are ya putting them in ?
and is it for play or competition?
not really
I use the sierra cast or the OMC ones. unless its a crossflow. since the ring locating pin was moved from the bottom of the groove to the top on the OEM crossflow pistons I have seen many pin failures. on the cross flow motors I use the sierra and have had good service and they are reasonable
on that motor I really see no need for forged pistons. with forged pistons there is a chance of "cold" siezure depending on warm up times and if the t-stat works.
We have had excellent service out of the Vortex pistons even in race (high Rpms) applications. If you use forged pistons extra clearance is neccesary to prevent siezure.
