Places to stay in Charleston?

The wife and I are thinking of going to Charleston SC this summer to visit her father (she has only met once in 3o years). Planning the trip the first of August to make it to her sisters wedding (also never met sister before).<br /><br />Looking for any ideas or advice on good decent priced places to stay. Looking to stay about a week. Want something large enough to keep 3 younguns busy if we decide to stay in for a day but small enough to be decent priced. <br /><br />The family lives near James island County Park, address is Camp Road. Don't know the area, never been there.<br /><br />Any ideas on places to stay, things to do with children 6 and under? Someplace fairly close to there yet with the family history of only recently meeting her father) nice enough we can hide out if things get too stressful.

dd, can't help on a placed to stay, cause I was there on a boat, and we stayed at the city Marina. It was nice! As far as what to do, they have a Class A or AA baseball team. I also recommed taking the little fake trolleys around. They go everywhere, and have plenty of stops. The South Carolina Aquarium is nice. Fort Sumpter is there. So is thw WWII aircraft carrier Yorktown. My wife has made me promise to go back to Charleston again sometime, and stay for more than 1.5 days.
