Some reason the one detailed above won't do?? It is the best I have seen. Maybe you could increase dimensions and/or parts dimensions if you don't trust it.

My V6 weighs 455 lbs, I don't think the wood one would hold up well. I guess I could add steel plates where needed...for that matter use that wood as a template but make it out of steel.

I saw some pictures of a big v6 mounted on a regular car engine stand...not sure of the guy's shaft length, but the engine was tilted slightly up, guessing the skeg would touch the bottom
