Plastic bolt broke!!!

The plastic bolt on the tilt/ trim broke!! Its a 88 Mercury 115!! Why did they make it plastic? Anyone got any trick to get it out without having parts fall in !!!

Are the replacements plastic also?

It is not a bolt its a plug and was made of plastic so it would not sieze in salt water. Someone has really over tightened it, by using care and screwdriver you may be able to tap it lose. The thing is tightened on the plug flange so if the flange is broken off the plug should come out.

Its not reverse threads is it? I tried to make a groove in it and use a flat head to get it out.. no luck..

Sorry I omitted this to make a groove heat a screwdriver with a torch and stick it in to the plastic.
