I have some questions about running on muffs and about how, where and when the the water should flow.

Mercruiser 4.3L V6, Alpha 1 drive.

Ok, so the outdrive is down. Muffs installed. Water turned on. Start engine.
Engine at idle speed.

1. Water should be coming out at transom plate holes correct?
2. Some water should come out of the propeller exaust port correct?
3. When the thermostat opens at operating temperature (my case engine never gets over 150 Deg. on muffs) Water should flow out of holes even more correct?
4. What if you get exaust only out of the transom holes yet engine does not overheat?

Thanks. Please don't hi-jack my thread.

The answer to the first 3 is YES.
#4, Water takes the path of least resistance, No problem at all on muffs.
If you can get the bow of the boat way up in the air, the water will come out the prop more. But it doesn't matter at all.

You are mostly correct in your description, except when it comes through the prop. The exhaust/water will flow through prop when the rpms get higher. Mine (3.0L) it happens around 1000-1200rpm. And as far as whether or not it increases when engine is up to temp, only increases with thermostat opening if you don't have a closed cooling system.

Hope this helps,
