I just put all new seals on the lower unit due to a small leake around the shift shaft. I put everything back together and it was leaking oil from the oil passage hole. My question is should the upper and lower both have a seal for the oil passage hole? I looked on two websites but neither have part or show one goes there? 26-455771Part number for the lower

Well I had that seal on the lower unit. Is it possible that the seal wasn't aligned? It was a pretty steady leak.

Did you do a pressure test before filling with oil? If you didn't, drain the oil, pressure test and verify where the actual leak is. It may not be the quad seal, but something else.

the quad seal would not normally allow oil to leak from the drain hole or water inlet holes. That would be the driveshaft seal or the shift shaft seal.

I'm pretty sure it's the drive shaft seals. I took them both out to replace and I don't think I put them back in correctly. I bought a brand new shift shaft seal so I'm almost positive it's not that. I am going to perform a pressure check later on today. Thank you all for your help in advance.
