Hello all. Im in need of some help. I have a alumaweld stryker with a carburated vortec v6 225 that likes to stall after running for awhile, being shut off, and then started up again. As soon as I start it back up and take off it will die. I can sometimes get it to keep running but only after pumping the gas a lot.

Its seems to either happen in warm conditions (hot days or small warmer rivers) or when trolling for long periods of time. Is it a sensor? The carburator? Im at my wits end. Any help would be greatly appreciated and ask any question you want. Thanks

You need to enter your engine make, (Merc, Volvo, etc.) & your serial # if possible for the right answers.....;)

Sorry, it's a chevy V6 votec 262. Im not sure of the serial number I'll have to try and get that. Also, it has a kodiak cooling system. The carb is a Holly 4 barrel with an automatic choke.

Re: Please help.

Try running with the engine cover propped open to get some air moving in the engine bay. Just a hunch but it may be vapor locking. Weak fuel pump comes to mind as well.

Re: Please help.

Read the thread below and answer all the questions. You still haven't stated year, Make (Volvo, Merc, OMC, Other)

Sorry, Im a retard. It's a 2003. Make (chevy vortec?) The pump is an american turbine jet.

I've heard of it being vapor lock as the poster above stated and have ran it with the top cracked open and it seemed to help but not cure it. Should I try more venting? Maybe change the fuel pump as suggested?

So, can we assume it's a Kodiak setup? With a jet pump and not an outdrive.

Mercruiser, Volvo, Kodiak all use 4.3L engines with jet pumps. But have completely different ignition and fuel systems.
