Re: please help

This is the carburetor needle adjustment, used to adjust the mix of air and fuel going into the motor. Opening it (turn counterclockwise) feeds more fuel in (richer). Closing it (clockwise) restricts fuel flow (lean). What motor is it? Does it have both high speed and low speed adjustments?

Re: please help

If there is just one such knob its the slowspeed mixture adjustment.

If there are two the upper one is the slowspeed adjustmnet and the lower one is the high speed adjustment.

Normally set in the middle of its (their) range(s)

For details of setting the adjustments up properly see http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=167352

Re: please help

What horsepower motor is it? Does it have both high speed and low speed adjustments? If needles are closed, it won't run.

The fuel air mixture must be set to the right proportions for it to run properly.
If the settings are not correct it will run badly if they are just a bit out and possibly not at all if they are a long way from the correct setting.

Tell us the Hp of the engine then we know what we are talking about
