Please help

So we got a 1977 harris deckcraft boat with a ford 302 175 hp motor in it and carb was rebuilt and you can watch it spray fuel and looks like a good stream coming out. When we try to rev it up it won't do it, it starts too but then just like kinda flutters and wont rev up, thoughts please?

Good point, plugs and wires be a good place to start

So would points, condenser, cap, and rotor. Check timing and advance timing.
Also check your carbs accelerator pump to make sure it's squirting fuel.

We did do points and condenser. didn't try rotor and cap yet. We actually was thinking about switching to HEI distributor. We were getting spark though...

Is the spray only when you are moving the throttle? If so, that is the accelerator pump and is not active under constant throttle. Sounds like the engine is either running lean (likely air leak in the intake system, weak fuel pump, blocked fuel filter, etc) or the timing has slipped too far advanced (not very likely).

Is the spray only when you are moving the throttle? If so, that is the accelerator pump and is not active under constant throttle. Sounds like the engine is either running lean (likely air leak in the intake system, weak fuel pump, blocked fuel filter, etc) or the timing has slipped too far advanced (not very likely).

Last I remember the fuel only came when hitting throttle..

Ayuh,.... Sounds like a carb that might survive another lap with a Rebuild,..... or not....

The carb is 3 main circuits, the Accelerator pump, which works,..
'n the low speed, 'n high speed circuits....

Sounds like it's fulla junk....

When we did hit throttle it looked like a pretty good stream of gas come and Carb we rebuilt but didn't replace any pumps I believe. So your saying Carb is probably bad?
