Just picked up a 1989 Evinrude 60 hp 3 cylinder to upgrade from my current 1989 50 hp 2 cylinder johnson. I don't want to have to hassle with switch controls if I don't need to. Both motors have titles and trim. Does anyone know if the electrical cables and throttle/shift cables are compatible with both motors?

Not a pro here, but I believe they are...
As long as the "Big Plug" for the electrical is the same color.. (Red, Black, Yellow, but Red I think on yours...)

Keeping the same remote in your boat and just swapping the engine and "Plugging it in", I'm pretty convinced would be just fine in your case...

Only possible issue is if the old motor lacked power trim and the new one has it, in which case you'd need to add a switch to the handle.
