This will be my first winter with an i/o. I have a 1989 MAG 350. The exhaust are center rise. It is a raw water cooled sytem that is run in brakish water. I am wondering where to find all of the plugs that need to be removed from the engine and exhaust. Thanks

Re: Plug Location

We can try to explain, but not advised to take our advice. Have a shop walk you though or do it for you and see how they do it. You really want this done right or it'll cost you thousands. What I do is fush my engine for a while on that RV antifreeze to make sure that's everywhere first (cheap insurance). Then there are plugs on each side of the motor, kind of in the middle. One on the bottom of each exhaust and one one the side of the exhaust (on each of the risers). I'm up to 6 places so far. Then one of the thermostat housing (typically). Then I typically pull all hoses off of low points like water circulation pump, power steering cooler, bottom of exhaust feed, basically anything that looks low to me (again probably a bit of over kill). I step back look at the engine and know that I do not have any water left any place (and if it is, it's antifreeze anyway). The outdrive self drains.

Re: Plug Location

Go to a Mercruiser dealer and order a genuine factory manual.Don't buy someone else's copy of it.Follow it,and I won't have to sell you $$$ parts in the spring.<br />DHP
