Hey Everyone,

Im restoring 1977 Lund fishing boat. I have completely redone the hull of the boat inside and out, now I want to create a floor and raised front casting deck. My question is, if marine plywood is out of the question, what would be the best plywood to use? It will be carpeted once in place.

Understand the only time this wood will come in contact with water is from splashing of water or rain when it is out fishing. other than that it will be stored inside or covered. The wood is not for the hull of the boat

Is it better to buy treated exterior plywood (will not contact any metal) or a normal plywood and seal it with an epoxy? This is a lower budget project which is why I cant afford to buy 4 sheets of marine.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Plywood Question

Welcome to iboats!

Exterior plywood sealed up properly will work fine.

You will find that we are very aluminum boat friendly here :D

Re: Plywood Question

Do you have to wait for the exterior plywood to dry out completely before sealing? What is the product to use for sealing?
