Points Conversion to CDI

I have a 1985 Force 50, battery ignition with breaker points. Does anybody know of a suitable DC-CDI ignition unit that I can adapt to work on these engines? I realize I'll have to replace the old coils with CDI coils and probably have to drill and tap the breaker plate to mount hall effect triggers. But the breaker points for these things are just about impossible to find anymore except on ebay, and then they're either used or just one contact set. All I need to "fix it" is a couple DC-CDI boxes and all the CDI boxes I find are AC units for magneto.

They started using Prestolite Ignition system
in 1987/88
Look around and find a junker and use the
system off that motor.
If my memory's right? you'll need to drill/tap
the trigger base(maybe) or you might be
able to use the parts from the other motor.

Thanks. Yeah, after looking around I'd need the flywheel, stator, trigger, the whole works.

I guess there's nothing actually wrong with the battery points ignition other than Chrysler designed the cam lobe so it holds the points open most of the time so they got 30 deg of dwell. They did that so only one set of points is closed at any time and a single 3 ohm coil draws 4.2 amps. If they made the lobe so the rubbing block is not in contact with the lobe most of the time the ignition system would draw 8.4 amps. But the way it is, it's hard on the rubbing block on the points set.

It looks like the better option might be to drill and tap the breaker plate for a set of commonly available points used in the automotive world. Then they can be replaced during tuneup for $5.99 instead of the $94 people are charging for a new set of points (if they happen to have some in stock yet). Or $35-40 for a single used contact set on eBay.

Some people are thieves!! Ebay's full of them.

I've got a box of old/NEW Chrysler parts.
I'll put them on Ebay and retire in a day or 2 :)

Post a pic of the parts you need or a part# and I'll
see if it's in my box of parts.

IF?? I have them I'll let you have them for shipping
and a donation to an animal shelter.(IF??? I have them)

Jerry, that is no kidding about eBay! I just need both sets of points, quantity (2) of Chrysler part # F12329-2. I think maybe Sierra also made these at one point, but I don't know what the Sierra part # was. My condensors are fine, just the rubbing blocks on the points are worn out. I got a couple new felt lubrication wicks off some GM points.

This would the points I need (two of them), but these are in the UK and it would be almost $80 for one set of points to get them here!

Here would be another set for $40, but he's only got one

As a side note, I think those points fit all the twin-cylinder battery-ignition Chrysler and Force outboards up to 55hp equipped with an alternator. But the non-alternator engines in those same hp ratings used a different set of points IIRC.
