Re: Polyester Resin Question

Unless you are going for thinnest lamination possible, the lowest priced poly laminating resin will work fine. Use laminating resin if you are gluing over it. No sanding needed. I live in Florida and been buying from Fiberglass Florida in Rockledge. They have everyhing but mat for epoxy. Their wax additive is called Mod C (as in modifier c). Everybody has their own ways of doing this stuff and most work as advertised, so don't get hung up on one being the only way. One of the best things to remember: bulk is your friend for waterproofing.

Wood, I have a question on your diagram. Since I was under the impression cloth was best for the finish layer, why do you put a layer of csm over it?

Basically two reasons...

1.) Additional waterproofing
2.) Prevents bleed through of the print of the cloth. Especially helpfull if painting.

Life is good but I've moved...not sure where it is yet. I've been doing other stuff but and getting back into my boats again. Doing some repairs and getting them back into the water. A storm blew my dock away so my boats are on trailers now.
