pontoon discoloration

I just received pics of a 03 Crest. It has been docked at a marina (fresh water). I noticed the bottom of the pontoons are discolored, I assume from sitting in the water. Is this normal? What should I look for when I inspect the boat. This will be our first boat, trying to avoid mistakes.

Yes, that is perfectly normal.

Have the engine inspected by a qualified mechanic.
Look for soft spots in the deck. Inspect the deck from the underside.
Look carefully for cracks in the vinyl.
Look carefully for carpet stains.
Carefully inspect the outside for dents and/or major scratches.
Of course, water test it and make sure all instruments and controls are operating properly.

We bought a pontoon this summer. Make sure you get underneath and check your deck. Ours is older (87) and would not expect the same problems on an 03' rather than just walk on it. I would want to get it on the water and run it at all speeds for a bit to ensure it runs out well.

We love ours - great fishing platform - good for families, especially if you have small children - depending, it may have a large enough outboard to tube if you have kids. Excellent boat for a 1st if everything runs out on it.

Not much to go wrong with a pontoon, as stated check the deck top and bottom and have the engine looked at and run it in the water just to make sure everything works and you like the boat.

With it having tubes you can visually inspect for damage, if you don't see anything wrong they are okay.

Completely normal for the tubes to discolor from the water, when you are in thebaot enjoying it you won't notice.

If you get the baot and don't like them you can clean them and put some Sharkhide on them and that will keep them looking good for years to come.
