SteveInVA: If you're going to build a 16' pontoon, where are you going to obtain the components? 16' pontoons pretty rare things.

You might be best suited to find a used 20' pontoon, and modify it to your use. They're easily found for fair prices. Most likely, it would have railings to keep your passengers safe.

Re: pontoon regulations

I'm wondering because I don't know the in's and out's of threads??? What is the problem with answering a question on an old thread if it has not been answered? I would think it would be handy if someone was searching for an answer to that question?

Re: pontoon regulations

The original poster hasn't been back for 9 months so your answer isn't answering anything since he has stopped checking back, also if everyone kept dredging up 1,2,10 year old threads it will plug the board and again the person with the original problem has stopped looking for an answer.

If you have a question ask in a new thread that deals with your specific problem rather than jumping another old post and the OP got 8-9 very good answers to his question and lastly it is the forum rules, we are pretty laid back here in the toon forum but not so much in others.

Posting to old threads is also against the forum rules, here is an excerpt from the FORUM RULES

12. Please do not post to threads that have been inactive for more than 3 months UN-LESS you are the original poster. This is a very active forum and any thread that remains inactive for that long should be considered "dead". It is especially confusing when there is an entirely new question posted to an old thread. This is considered a hijack. Please start a new thread of your own.
