Re: Poor Hole Shot

Todd;

Your are runing with a lot of weight in the stern, and a slight reduction in engine performance could put you over the threshold of "poor low end performance". The engine may need some tuning but the problem realy lies in balance, and always has with your boat and most other boats that a stern loaded. It may have planed easier before but since you have never had or used tabs on this boat you do not know true performance.

I can not tell your how many times I have been told "my boat runs fine it does not need anything". In fact if I recall Lube Dude said something like that to me about his Bass Tracker.

Don't change the prop untill you get the hull performance a clean as possible. Otherwise it is like driving down the freeway with one foot on the brake and the other on the gas. Lube Dude, ran 58 MPH without the tabs with a marginal performance getting on plane. Once he put the Smart Tabs on he got on plane much faster, and ran 59 MPH. The boat also handled better. The interesting thing is that now with the Smart Tabs he tested props with more pitch (which before would have ruined his hole shot)and finally settled on one that did not affect the new faster hole shot, but allowed the boat to run WOT at 62 to 63 MPH. Now he has a truely efficient hull and performance as well.

Lube Dude - if I have said something incorrect please tell us!

Yes, what John said is true. You do not see tabs on Bass Boats much, but I wouldnt take them off my boat on a bet. Incidentally my Bass Tracker is a (glass Boat) and very similar to yours.

By the way John, I want to try the softer shocks, Ill call you.
