Re: Pour planing performance?

Going from a 23" at 3800 RPM to a 19" at 4500 RPM shouldn't have cost you 5 MPH, unless there are some real screwy prop slip numbers in there somewhere .....

Or some other bad piece of data . . .

Re: Poor planing performance?

Well....my boat (see signature) has the same 14x23" prop. My boat is similar to yours. Also, boattest.com used the same prop as I am using when it tested my rig. My performance is fantastic. Sunday we had two adults, 4 kids and a full tank of gas tubing. Tubing with a two person tube that weighs about 50-60 pounds. My boat definitely planed longer but it planed in 6-8 seconds. When not tubing it planes very quickly.

Here is a thought, on my old boat which was a 4 cylinder, it was having trouble planing. Mechanic found out that a cylinder was not firing and did a tune up. It solved the problem. I know your a mechanic but maybe double check to see if all cylinders are firing especially after you changed plugs. New plugs on a 2009 though??

Greg,

Good luck with the new prop - hope it works for you. By reading this thread and the other "launch prep" one.......guess it takes you longer to plane, than to launch!! LOL. Sorry, couldn't resist and FWIW I am with you your "launch prep" remarks in the other thread.
