Was at the marina saturday, for some peace and quiet, to tinker on my cruiser. Was down in the cabin working, when I heard and(felt)a loud hand knock on my boats aft area;then a drunk-sounding,"hello,hello,anybody home, hello, anybody in there?" I mean,I was prepared to loan out my last spoonfull of "Grey Poupon",with regrets.Staggering there was this guy, loaded to the gills on something, that I never saw before on our dock area.He was holdng 2 bags of microwave popcorn and he slurred abruptly, without any introductions,"would it be a bother for you to microwave ny popcorn for me?" Hind sight is always 20-20 and I just should have told him that my microwave was broken, but instead I told him thatI could not help, that I was working. He flashed me a surprised look, began walking away, then stopped and shot me a dirty look.Later that day I found out that he was a guest of a non-present boat owner and he was spending the night on that boat a few slips down from ours. I felt bad about it later, golden rule syndrome set in,but that just hit a nerve! I did not go out to the lake that weekend to cook for someone else's baby boy,for pete's sake!Maybe I should ask Miss Manners?
