Re: Pop-ups

Funny thing is i am running Fire Fox and the lap top is okay but i am having the problem on the all in one desktop. Both running IE7

Do not, repeat DO NOT, try to access iboats with IE7. Use IE8 or preferably Chrome. I could tell you stories but it would take too long. REPEAT: dump IE7.

Am using IE7 as we speak on both p/c's. No more problem since i got Firefox straightened out.I wouldn't have IE8 on anything.

Re: Pop-ups

I use Firefox at home and the adblocker works great. Have not gotten a single popup. However, at work they have IE8 and I was getting popups all the time. Last week there was a thread about the back button not working and oldjeep posted the following "
FYI - to get rid of the issue and the stupid ads permanently in IE - add *.doubleclick.com and *.doubleclick.net to your restricted sites list."

Works like a charm. No more popups.

In the event you don't have add-blocker with firefox and you want to enter the two above sites to be blocked you can add the firefox add-in "Leechblock". It comes from Mozilla so its safe and it will allow you to block any site you wish.

Re: Pop-ups

have been popup free for a year then suddenly today they got me.... I very nearly deleted myself from iboats.

How could ANYONE think that a successful business decision woulf be to badger and annoy a HUGE block of possible customers with obnoxious ads for products not even related to the content of this website!?!

A few more choice words come to mind but I'll keep them to myself...

I just installed a few of the adblocker apps and POOF... all gone! It even took away the iboats adds in the sidebar.... SEE iboats, had you respected me I would have been seeing some adds but since you didn't I don't see ANY of them any more

Please relax. This place is free, remember? There is some weirdness going on with the rate of the roll-up on the bottom. It has been coming and going. No one is disrespecting anyone . . . ;)

Re: Pop-ups

shoot I'm relaxed.... all is well now.... pop ups are a HUGE issue with me at any site. I only posted that so that those running the place might learn from my response...... marketing research proves that for every one that complains there are many more who didn't but felt the same.

BTW I am a member of a dozen or so forums and they are ALL free. This one is the only one that is also a retailer tho.

Of course some would argue that I'm irritated too easily. While I never get nasty about it I find it very annoying that on a regular basis I order a cheeseburger to go and they ask small medium or large because they have automatically made it a combo I didn't order.

Re: Pop-ups

Not getting ANY pop ups, man how many times do we have to talk about this, the information is on this system to help you get away from the popups. I had to tweek one little thing a couple of weeks ago and have not seen another one yet!

Beings this comes up so much, it should be a closed sticky topic, so people can just go through the various tricks to make you viewing pleasure easier!

Re: Pop-ups

Firefox with Ad-blocker plus.. Problem solved. :)

++ on that.

The admin should be made aware of the fact that these annoying ads prompted to do something I have never done before; install ad blocker. Now I see no ads on this site. I accept the fact you guys have to make a few bucks but when you start pissing off the people who make the site possible it is going too far. You would think this was an Indian web site based on the number of pop ups.

I think you may have this slightly backwards. Yes, I understand your point, and yes iboats likes the Forums, but they do provide this as a free service. Not really the other way around ;)

Maybe let this one rest, guys. We (Mods) are well aware and Admin (iboats) is also well aware.
