I have a 1986 175 Black Max. The poppet valve is leaking from the weep hole. I replaced the diaphragm, and it is still leaking. When I cleaned the groove on the plate plate that holds the diaphragm, I noticed it was pitted out pretty bad. I was wondering it I could put a little permatex aviation sealer around the lip if the diaphragm that sits in the groove to seal it off. Thanks for any help.

Yeah that ought to work. Try to rough up the alum getting as much corrosion off as possible. Then shoot with something like Brake Parts Cleaner Aerosol to get rid of any foreign material including any grease. Corrosion will just flake off where glue to alum will stick. I have used the product before. I'd put it back together after a few minutes to activate the curing process which should enhance the seal. Just ensure you maintain the adhesive at the alum-rubber interface and don't get too much on it.

Thanks for the help Texasmark. It is on there. I just put the permatex in the groove and on the diaphragm lip. I will let it sit until tomorrow before I try it. I will post the results.
