Popping noise going around curves

I'm trying to help a friend troubleshoot a problem he's been having on his boat. It's a Bayliner with a 130hp Force outboard. When he's pulling a tube or something behind the boat going around a curve he hears a popping or hitting noise coming from underneath the boat. From what he tells me it is not coming from the powerhead but underneath and underwater. Any idea what could be the issue? It does not do this while boating straight, just turns.

First thought is engine to boat interface....loose mounting bolts. Second would be worn tilt bracket at tilt tube, or shock mounts between engine and bracket that attaches to the engine side of the tilt bracket. On most engines they are rubber and can wear.

Tow rope related?
Using a bridle or hooked to one or both transom eyes? Or using a pylon?

Must have been asleep. I re-read the thread. Yokes with floats on them will hit the water and bounce up and hit the engine some times.

Tie a bare rope onto one stern eye with nothing else there but rope and see what happens.
