Portable Generator

That sounds like a very dangerous way to do it. CO(not CO2) will go through the tiniest of cracks in your windshield, canvas and seep into your enclosed area. If I was going to run a portable genny on a boat(I wouldn't), it would be on the swim step only.

You should also completely drain the gasoline from the generator when you bring it back on board since the fuel system is not sealed and will vent while you are driving your boat. These fumes will enter your bilge and are an explosion hazard.

Doesn't take much CO to kill you. I would never run it while I was sleeping in a cabin.

I agree with this!

Look at the Ramsond sinemate 3500. I have the 4500 on my drifter House boat. Love it. It's bigger then you need. But the 3500 is perfect. Even has the 30 amp twist lock plug so no adapters needed. Runs about 800.00 delivered. And it will sit on the swim platform easily. Just use a tie down to hold it on there so it doesn't fall off with the rocking of the vessel.

What are your guys inputs on the [h=1]Yamaha EF2000iS 2,000 Watt 79cc OHV 4-Stroke[/h]

This a excellent unit , extremely quiet, fuel efficient, reliable and has a high resale value. I would buy a Yamaha or Honda and that is the top of the line for portable generators. IMHO nothing else is worth looking at. You can have a normal conversation standing next to either unit.

If you are going to do it, only get an inverter type. The others are loud because they always have to run at a certain RPM. Inverter units don't have to do that.

Please don't mount it in front of your windshield like was suggested. You need to be very careful with generators on boats. Even with built in ones you need to be careful.

I own the Yamaha EF3000ise generator. Has an electric start too. May be way too big for a swimstep though.

Look up the Honda, Yamaha, and also the Ramsond. Print out the spec sheets for each and do the comparisons. Size, capacity, dimensions, decibels, and costs. All three are great options. But do the side by side comparisons (all three info pages avail online). Let us know how it turns out. I personally own the Ramsond 4500 as I said before. My I laws bought the 3500 on my recommendation. (4500 is way too big for your swim platform) but they r great units, American made in Detroit, and cost comparison is a no brainer. Read all the reviews on Amazon too. Only issue was the hard start the very first time they ever used it. (Yeah u gotta prime it first use, duh)

I comapred all of them through vide review and specs and i think ill go with the ramsond , will the 2500 watt be enough to power the AC unit with the microwave?

Thought I'd set something straight. I looked it up CO, is very slightly lighter than air so it will slowly drift up. That said, with any wind there is no telling where it will go.

I use a Honda EU2000I that I bought many years ago and it still runs strong. I use it while camping for lighting and keeping my batteries charged on my camping trailer. I mounted a CO / smoke detector in my camping trailer but it's never gone off unless its batteries get weak.

I think that the Honda EU2000i might be a little too small for your boat. It does not put out 2000 watts continuously and will not run my pickup camper AC unit and struggles with the microwave. That said, when bringing it inside for travel I always close the gas cap vent and it doesn't leak any fumes that way. If you forget to open the vent to use the generator it will let you know after a while when it begins to struggle and die.

I am really stuck but i think price wise ill go with Ramsond for 800 bucks. I mean its not as expensive as the yamaha or honda and looks very portable @ 3500watts i think i can power the ac with no problem along with the microwave and battery charger , everything else i will run with the house batteries since they will always be charging so they should not die. Now second question , does the fridge work better when powered through shore power or it does not matter compare to the 12v

Edit

Can someone please help me understand this , check out both links
1) http://www.sale-tools.com/products/R...Generator.html
2) http://www.danartools.com/portable-generators/62-ramsond-sinemate-3500-.html"]http://www.danartools.com/portable-g...ate-3500-.html

I[/URL] might as well purchase the 4500 model for 600

http://www.tools-top.com/products/Ra...Generator.html

Someone please tell me if i should purchase from any of these sights , they look legit to me.

That place is a scam site. Order from home depot or Ramsond directly. I found that site and was also excited a few years back. Scam. Go with manf site or homedepot. Both known and legit! Yes the2500 will run ur boat. The 4500 is pretty big. It will not fit on your swim platform. It is also 120lbs dry. On my House boat I have plenty of room for it. You won't! And the 6500..... Forget abt that one. No way u could use it or lift it for your boat.

Darn, I got excited for no reason. Are all 3 sites scams?

I don't know if they are or not, but if you buy one and use your credit card, your covered if it doesn't show up. Worst thing is if they are not legit may need to cancel and get a new card

From what I can tell , the partial reason to why it's so cheap from danartools is because they ship from overseas Singapore and delivery time is long , but it seems that it's legit. They certify that it's authentic generators and not China clone.
