I just wanted to give B&D credit for an issue that they are resolving for me.

I damaged the spool cap on my electric string trimmer last fall. I found the part and its part number on B&D's website, but I could not add it to my shopping cart. It doesn't appear to be for sale online. "No problem," I say, let's use their locator to find the closest retail store. Uh-oh, Chicago, over 2.5 hours away. Drat.

So I sent an e-mail asking if there was a way to purchase the part online. In about 12 hours I got a response via e-mail asking for my mailing address. I provided that info, and today (36 hours later) the lady informs me that they are shipping the part to me, FREE!

Whoo Hoo!! The only bad thing is that when I get the part, I'll have to go out and do all the trim work around my fence, house, retaining wall, and sidewalk! I hate yardwork. But thanks to Ms. Jackson at Black & Decker customer service, I don't have to spend any additional money to do that work!

I second the great PR. Had a 4 year old Hedghog clipper go down. Out of warranty. Nice lady with Black and Decker in Texas shipped me a new one no questions asked.
Freight aand customs included.

Great to hear. When companies go the extra mile for us we should tell others and usually we do. Maybe other companies will figure it out.

You can thank me for that. ;)

I bought an electric drill from B&D a couple of years back and used it to drive screws in a deck project. Lots of dust and dirt in the air. It went through a set of brushes in a week. I emailed B&D customer service and asked if I could buy a new set of brushes. They told me that the brushes weren't available and the drill was useless. I sent them nastygrams for a couple of months, then vowed never to do business with them again. Maybe they're wising up.
