Positive sign for economy?

The boat dealership I bought our rig from last year (near Twin Cities, MN) had an open house this past weekend. It actually started on Friday and went through Sunday.

I went on Saturday to attend a seminar they held on sonar. Afterward I headed into the showroom to say "Hi" to our salesman. We always have a few good laughs. The place was really busy. I asked how things were going. He said they sold 7 boats on Friday!

I have friends in the car business and Spring has been kind to them too. I keep my fingers crossed for everyone. ;)

The car dealership I worked at until last year had their best Feb and March in years.

I know my wife and I are super busy, but our consignment shop isn't a good indicator as bad economy, or good, is good for our business.

all due respect bu no negativity here!!! :D I will get flamed for this but this recession is no where near as bad as the 80,81,82 one was. I was selling cars then and we had 21% interest rates, 14.5% nationwide unemployment. Compare that to 8.1% unemployment, and 5 to 6% interest rates. I feel for those who have been hurt by the downturn, BUT the Midwest has been spared for the most part. The coasts have been hit the hardest however crooked appraisers helped in that mess. I mean come on, my uncle in Santa Clara has a 1000 square foot house with a postage stamp back and front yard, and it was appraised at $750,000.00. No way. The house across the street got repossessed and sold for $250,000.00. Still way over valued but more realistic. I think the more we all work to pay off bills and buy things prudently, the quicker this will be over nationwide. Now if we could just keep the politicians out of our pockets and get them to shut up we could have a great economy. :D

Re: Positive sign for economy?

hello all,
My internet sales are off the chart compaired to this time last year.

One thing about the housing market here in Casper, WY is everything is over priced. A house apprasing at $200,000 in Bloomington,ILL, my old home town, would be apprasing for upwards of $400-$500,00 out here, Ah, the down side of an oil boom. The economy is still going strong out here, might have slowed up a bit but not much. The country will always need natural gas

Just my 2 Cents..
