Please help! Was walking by my boat today and heard a whining noise. When I checked my boat I found that the tilt motor was engaged and had lowered the motor all the way and was still trying to lower it further. I got in the boat and pushed the tilt button up and down but it did not stop. I then moved to the back and pushed the tilt button on the motor and it still did not stop. I was just about to disconnect the battery when it stopped trying to tilt down. About an hour later I heard the motor engauge again and quit on its own a few minutes later. I then disconnected the battery. I used the boat last week and the tilt and trim worked fine. One of the pistons has been leaking hydraulic fluid and I have to periodically put some fluid back in it. Also is it expensive or hard to have the O'Rings in the pistons replaced. The motor is a 2002 Evinrude FICHT 150 with factory tilt and trim. Thanks in advance for any help.

I had that happen before. It was a leaky boot around the bow switch letting rain in.

i'd check the T&T relay's as well could be a bad relay, the contact inside might be touching.

Just another reason why you should have a master power switch to shut all battery power off, your lucky wiring didnt fry or tnt motor

Go up to the pump and with a firm voice repeat " THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU". several times. All should be well.

Check for the corrosion.

I bought a used boat and the first day I had it this happened. The culpret was the trim switch itself.
