Put new coil in outboard and first off it runs far smoother and even sounds like a different engine, i don't think i have heard the engine run as it should have until now now, doesn't stall by itself either, the old coil stalled the engine yesterday so now i will have to take out out and see if it still stutters at high revs or dies off completely, hopefully not...

Just brought the boat down the river and it ran flat out for about 5 seconds no stuttering at high rpms and then it started to die down and would not go above 2000rpm, then it quit, stopped. So them I checked the ohms of the stator and it was 147 ohms, it said that it should be etween 125 and 145 so I don't know of 2 out would make a difference, since the new coil has been put it there has beenabled no stuttering, anyway started the engine at it ran again perfect at wot for 5 seconds and then died down and quit, wasn't running long enough to get anyway hot I've put in a new fuel pump and a new coil, this problem is very aggrovating seems to rev out at wot for a few seconds (5) and then dies down and quits, the first Time I was able to back at 2000rpm in gear, it is very confusing and now looks like maybe a fuel starvation problem even though the carbs were checked and therelated is a new fuel pump and coil, it was very hard to start the second time it stalled took me ages, seemed to be a lot of oil in the river from it too which maybe because it was only idling a lot of the time, anyone have any suggestions what could be wrong ? I just want it to be fixed now.

Well I have some fantastic news, the boat is fixed and flying!!
The old coil was causing the stuttering which was got rid of when we got the new coil, but the engine mysteriously stopping was the a bad valve in the primer bulb cutting off the flow to the pump and carburetor's, never went as smooth and fast and good and reliable today, I though it would never be right or fixed, very powerful engine now, in delighted now, changed the primer bulb and it never stopped once, new coil stopped the stuttering at high rpms so 2 problems at least, thanks very much to everyone who gave me suggestions and help!
