possible iol pump failure

i have a 2002 50hp elpto motor the last couple of tmies out i have noticed little or n oil smoke and i worried the oil pump is going out, how do i test it

First, premix the fuel in your tank to 100:1. This will help just in case it is bad. Worse case, your pump is working correctly and your fuel will be mixed at 35:1. Won't hurt anything.

Get a manual or get someone to tell you the rate of flow for the pump. It should be something like X ml of oil in X minutes.

The procedure is to hook up a spare tank mixed correctly at 50:1 then remove the output line from the oil pump and place it in a measured container.

You the start and run the engine at idle for a specified period of time. At the end of that time period you read the measurment on the container and if it's within specs you're good to go.

Just out of curiosity, did you recently fill up with E-10 (Ethanol) fuel. It has been known to have some strange effects.
