Re: Possible New Project - 27' Crestliner, input needed...have you worked with this h
I saw this one online today and found your thread looking for more information. Did he try to start the motors or was he opposed to the idea? How bad was the seam? I prefer to hear an unbiased opinion vs. the owners. I am looking for a winter project since we finished my friends 22' 78 V5 islander to side console conversion. Now it's my turn.
I didn't bother with the motors as I didn't get that "love'in feeling" from the boat at first site, it just wasn't going to work for what I wanted to do.
So here is my assessment;
The crack is in the bow, about 6' down from the bow eye and continues about 30" down. It doesn't look like a bad one but will require a weld on the outside and inside. Easy enough.
The wiring looks completed but nothing is finished and I would recommend redoing it so that you know what is what.
The motors are 87? (he wasn't sure) Johnson 150's. He said they came from Maryland, so they most likely have salt water use. The ID badges were behind the motors in the position they were turned in and the Hydraulic steering wasn't turning, so I could not confirm
If I had found it last year when I was looking, I would have bought it but I have a fishing boat now and I'm looking for something big enough now to sleep on with a wife and two kids. It all just looked like a train wreck to me. For the price he's asking, you could easily part it out and make that money back. If you are thinking of making an offer, I'd start around $2K and no more than $2.5.
