Everyone here including myself are critical of others, but offer no solutions. If I did this at work, I would be fired.

I learned early that if your going to bring up a problem (in the work place) at least try to have a solution. And have requested that of anyone working for me since. People are smart.<br /><br />

So I ask, what are your solutions to the current problems. I also dare you to ask these same questions from your polititions.

I was going to ask this as a seperate post but it seems to fit in here. For years I've heard the following but don't know if it is true. <br />This is a C&P from a email..<br />

SOCIAL SECURITY<br />Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during election years.<br />Our Senators and Congresswomen do not pay into Social Security and, of course, they do not collect from it.<br />You see, Social Security benefits were not suitable for persons of their rare elevation in society. They felt they should have a special<br />plan for themselves. So, many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan. When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until <br />they die.<br />Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made.<br />That change would be to jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the Senators and Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security<br />plan with the rest of us ... then sit back and watch how fast they would fix it.

Does anyone here have the means to verify this? If it's true (And can be proved) then why isn't it ever brought up?? <br />OK lunch break is over.. back to the grind

I agree. But there are people out there that would not work in a pie factory, no matter what the pay was.<br />They are called lazy azz's.<br /><br />I would like to see the people vote on any pay increases for the 2 houses instead of them just saying, "Well let's have a raise today"<br />"All in favor say I"

Ladyfish,<br />All respect due but, raising the minimum wage will have a drastic effect on the price of hamburgers!! (I will gladly pay you friday for a hamburger today.) I have raised my own minimum wage several times in my lifetime. I go to school and study about things that others will pay me to do for them. It seems to have worked to me. I also work a full time job and @ 4:00 pm I go out and work some more. Air conditioning in Florida in the "season", Computer repair, general house repair, etc. I have more than I can do. Funny, the more I do the more I have to do. People Know I do the job right and at a fair price and they keep handing me money.

Aw Geez, did I say minimum wage, I meant to say welfare. Yeah thats it, keep raising welfare so people making minimum wage would be better off sitting home collecting and not having to pay daycare, or housing, or groceries or medical while the rest of us work our butts off and pay for ALL of the above for them, yet we keep getting our benefits cut. Hey its worked for years right? Must be a good plan.<br /> <br /><br />

Many good ideas here. Some, not so good. But it is too late here to think, so I won't go into too much detail.<br /><br />Taxes - scrap the income tax system as we know it. As has already been said, for corportate taxes, give incentives to those that create ABOVE MINIMUM WAGE jobs in this country, penalize those that encourage off shore accounts and overseas manufacturing.<br /><br />For personal taxes, use a national VAT (Value Added Tax) instead of income tax. This way, if someone saves, they are rewarded - savings goes back to the market place and adds value to the ecomony. However, everyone must buy things, and the amount of money one has usually leads to the amount they will spend. IE wealth will by expensive new Mercedes SUV , while others with out the funds will have to resort to cheaper second hand vehicles - the wealthier get taxed more, the poor get taxed less. The wealthy go to more expensive places to eat, go on more vacations, etc. They spend more money - so they would be taxed more. Think about it, it does make sense.<br /><br />Enough thinking for now - I am going to bed!

1. Give convicted criminals one and only one timely (within one year) appeal. Put an end to all of these frivolous complaints filed by convicts in prison. (I really don't care if your shoes are too tight or the prison doesn't serve you food your religion requires)<br /><br />2. Mandatory death penalty for all murderers convicted with DNA evidence<br /><br />3. Prisoners should be billed for all expenses incurred by the prison for their stay. They should be forced to work while in prison, ie. stamp license plates, grow their own food, clean up along roads.....chain gangs are great<br /><br />4. Laws concerning immigration need to be enforced. Double the spending on Border Patrol. Illegal immigrants are just that, Illegal. Other than care in the event of life threatening emergencies, they should be allowed no other privileges or rights, ie., no public education, driver's licenses, or work permits. Change the citizenhsip laws so that being born in the US does not constitute citizenship, one or both parents need to be citizens.<br /><br />5. Graduated income tax is fine with me...should be kept to a minimum though....Sales tax is more fair<br /><br />6. CAP the following: damages in lawsuits unless a history of blatant negligence can be proven, and prices of prescription medication (hey, the government gives these drug companies huge grants to research and develop these drugs, why shouldn't we get something back?)<br /><br />7. All countries or companies that export goods to the US must first prove that the workers that manufactured these goods are paid at least the US minimum wage or equivalent. Regular inspections by the US Commerce dept to these manufacturing facilities should help ensure that. <br /><br />Think i'll stop venting now so i won't take up too much space.. A lot of good ideas so far though...love the idea of ethanol as our future fuel....BigDDL

1. Rugged individualism. The government should be the last resort not the first.<br /><br />2. Uphold the constitution and protect our boarders. (No additional info required)<br /><br />3. Support the family instead of tearing it apart. No more free condoms at school, abortions for 12 year olds without notifying parents, 4th generation welfare mothers who know the law but can't read.<br /><br />4. Smaller neighborhood schools. Not these 50,000 sq. ft. schools with 150,000 sq. ft. sports complex's. RRR! Teachers have to be accountable or fired.<br /><br />5. Flat tax. Everyone pays!<br /><br />6. Prisons without weightrooms, cable tv, gymnasiums, pool tables, ..... Real work camps where they earn their keep.<br /><br />7. Triple the fines and prison terms for corrupt politicians. Something like the Internal Affairs Dept. to police them. TERM LIMITS. TERM LIMITS TERM LIMITS. Politics should be a duty not a career. I would vote for plywoody on the i-boats platform b4 I would let another Strom Thurmon or Ted Kennedy suck the *** for 30-60 years.<br /><br />8. Personal responsibilty and citizenship should be taught. We lost it somewhere..<br /><br />9. Our judicial system is a joke. Millions of dollars spent to burn the flag and ignore the pledge. Help the people not fulfill you political agenda.<br /><br />10. No more hyphonated anericans. Just americans. We are tearing ourselves apart from the inside.

Here's a couple for now:<br /><br />1. Welfare should be a work program for those who want to sit there and milk it. They will work sixty hours a week at minimum wage for what they get. No more free handouts. That should be enough of an incentive to get them off their lazy A@#'s. I'm sure there's something that they can do to earn it. I think welfare's good for when someone really needs a helping hand to get back on their feet. There should be strict limits on it though. <br /><br />2. ALL prisons should be 110% self-supporting. NO TAX MONEY shall go to them for ANYTHING!!!! Instead, they should be forced to work for anything and everything they get. Grow their own food, make their own clothes, and then be productive enough to not only support themselves, but to return something to society. That's why they're there anyhow. To pay their DEBT to society. Not to incur more debt. GRRRR!!!<br /><br />3. NO MORE career politicians. Make them work for the average yearly salary across the country. NO special retirement funds, just SS or if they want to, an IRA just like the average joe can do. They should also be taxed just like the rest of us. <br /><br />I agree with a lot of the points already mentioned. Wish I had more time to list more.<br /><br />James
