Does anybody have a good way to use a bowmount locater with power drive ? With a normal troller you can tie the transducer cable to the shaft with no problem but with power drive the shaft has to move feely thru a collar . any ideas?<br /><br /><br />mark

I have the same problem. What I have thought of, but have not done, is to drill a hole in the shaft at the point where the motor connects to the shaft, the motor collar. Fish the transducer wire up the hole and out the top. The trouble is you have to cut off the end of the transducer wire and then solder it back on. It will work, but I just have not got around to it.

DO NOT DRILL THE SHAFT. By doing so you create a water entry point and it will break if you hit something. Mount the transducer with any of the available trolling motor transducer mounts. Drill a small hole in the fin so you can zip-tie the cable close to the motor housing. A small zip-tie works fine so there is no need to drill very big hole. Be certain you don't drill into the housing. Run the cable up the shaft, passing it through the grip glide handle, and at then use another zip-tie just below the head. Leave enough slack in the cable so you as you raise and lower it the cable slides freely through the grip glide. The key is to keep the cable secure at the top and bottom. This is the way the dealers do it when customers don't buy a motor with a built-in transducer. It works just fine.
