Power head swap

Hey Guy's, I'm going to be doing a power head swap,ona 1992 Evinrude 9.9 ,my question is,will a 1977 9.9 power head interchange with my 92? I know the ignition components are totally different, carburetor is different,but other than that,will it work?

Should work.------Internal parts are not the same , but entire unit should work.----It is a step backwards in my opinion.

The older one uses throttle rods and gears, newer one uses cable throttle. Take a look at,how how that hooks up…
