Can some please explain what a powerhead includes in an four stroke outboard? Does it include the short block as well as cylinder head assuming it is a inline or straight block. THanks

Re: Power Heads

Unusual question. I would like to know if there is a story behind it.

I have always assumed that an outboard "power head" included everything above the "leg". Pretty much a complete engine.

Re: Power Heads

for the Yamaha 4 strokes it does not include the cylinder head.
on the yamaha parts index the reference number 1 on the crankcase page will list all the reference part numbers included in a block assy.

I am possibly looking into purchasing a reconditioned powehead I wanted to know what was included. Any reputable suppliers of these that can be recommended by anyone on this post would be welcomed.
