Re: power pack ?

Ok Carlos,
I will check the battery connections.

Glad to hear from you. I'm in Aguamarina, and sometimes I have the boat there. Most of the time my boat is at the El Morro marina, out of the water. Do you fish ? If you are a fishing pro I will be happy to go with you and maybe I will learn something !

Kesh..... Your engine does indeed have a water cooled "Volt Regulator/Rectifier" which sits on top of the powerhead just to the rear of the flywheel. Those reading seem extremely high to me which would suggest that a problem exists with that item.

Re: power pack ?

Thx Joe,
Maybe a dumb question, but could the voltage/regulator issue be related to the powerpack failure ?

HI, KESH

I´M NOT THE BEST FISHERMAN, BUT HAVE MANY GOOD FRIENDS THAT LOVE TO FISH. IN MY CASE, I TAKE MY BOAT AND INVITE SOME FRIENDS THAT LIKE TO FISH AND THEN GO TO LA BORRACHA, NEAR "EL GUARO". BUT NOW, A TOOK MY BOAT OUT OF WATER FOR MAINTEANANCE (THINKING TO APPLY ANTIFOULING).
IF YOU WANT, FOR BEST COMMUNICATION, I´M LIVING IN CASAS BOTE SECTOR C, PARCELA 105. IF YOU HAVE A CHANCE, NEXT MAY 01 , I´LL BE IN HOME FOR MAINTEANANCE WORKS. SOME TIMES, REPAIRING BOATS TO MY NEIGHBORS. ITS ONLY A HOBBY!
OK KESH, SEE YOU SOON.

CARLOS SCHEMEL
BANDIT

Re: power pack ?

If you have a good battery, good connections, and the voltage is over 14.5 with good meter, regulator is bad. The ignition part of the stator and the charging part are not connected, but the charging side will effect the ignition side at high rpms. There is a service bulletin that covers this on the old 35 amp stators.

Re: power pack ?

Carlos, thanks
I will stop by your house on next May 01. I have a blazer truck, dark green. Tell me if you like beers or something else so I can bring some. I am good with electric connections, wiring, etc. and I have many tools in case you need something. I am not good with outboard engines as you already noticed, hehehe. But wait until I have my manual !!

Joe,
I will check battery terminals just in case. I do not expect surprises there, because I serviced them not too long ago. In addition, cranking for start its good. The voltmeter I used for the test was: a) the fishfinder has a voltage reading option b) I also read the panel mounted voltmeter. Both readings coincided.

Re: power pack ?

Hey guys,
Just to let you know that the problem was solved with an used stator. Unfortunately, I had to travel during the days when the mechanic was replacing the part, so I had no chance to look at it. However, my boating partner has used the boat 2 or 3 times and he says it is working perfectly. Also, he said that the voltage issue was solved.

I will visually inspect the stator this weekend and will test the boat by myself.

Thanks for your great help. I can't wait to put my hands on a manual. I will travel to New York the first week of June, so I will try to buy it.
