I have a twin 5.7 L 27 foot Tiara serial numbers: Port: B784582 Starboard: B784568..I noticed hard steering the other day but it was manageable. After docking for a few hours, the steering returned to normal. I attributed this behavior to stiff grease in the ram tube because of the cooler temperatures.. Today I took a closer look at the control valve and it is leaking between the two halves where the gasket is. I believe these two halves are called the control valve housing and the annulus spacer. I think the gasket is compromised. According to Mercuriser service manual 14, I have the older style control valve.
Are there rebuild kits available? If not what parts do I need to replace the unit.
Also while I am at it. Is there a procedure for cleaning and relube the rams to improve stiff steering?
Best,
Jim
