power tilt/trim for 50hp mercury tracker 2001

I have power tilt/trim for 2001 50hp mercury tracker but I have a 1990 wiring harness.... How do I get at the wires which should run to the throttle handle which would work the power tilt/trim from the shifter? I have a sub-harness which comes off the main harness at the throttle box which I don't know what it is (4 wire harness with circular rubber connector) ..

Does the 4 wire harness have; Green w/wht stripe, blue w/wht stripe, rew/white stripe, black? If so these are the tilt/trim wires. Green is down, bule is up, red is power, black is ground.

I'll check when I get home.... If not, do you have a wireing diag for the tilt/trim .... I see two connectors (pig tails) hanging off the tilt/trim harness inside the motor which I think are the "up/down" parts... don't see red, but there is a gound connector (unused) very close by...

what is currently installed in your boat now? There has been almost no change in power trim wiring since 2w motors and automotive headlight relays hit the scene in 1980's. I would be astounded if your existing trim wiring wasn't the same as almost every other boat made since then.

the connector coming off the old throttle box isn't tilt/trim ... not sure what it is...

the pig tails comming from the swtich on the motor are blue and green...
I did a quick test ... power to each and this worked the tilt ... so I know which wire is which ....

The question now is now to I get power to the switch and do I need a relay between the power, blue, green and remote switch? Or is there a way of taking advantage of the exsiting two relays?

I think I get it ... bring the two wires (blue and green) to my switch and put power(fused??) to common terminal on the remote swtich....
switching the power should work the relay and vola up/down ... the switch I bought has only three terminals ... should I be using a different switch? You had mentioned ground ...
