power trim 110 johnny rude

Hello, i am having a problem with the power trim on my 110 johnson, the trim motor is about 2 yrs old, problem: when motor is trimm all the way up, it takes a very long time before it will go back down! the trim motor is working the whole time, it also makes weird noise going up or down, could it be that the pumo is low on fluid and if so, is it ok to use dextron 111 fluid in the hydralics? i plan to thake the boat out of the water put it on the trailer and check the fluid, does this sound like the problem? Thanks for any input!
