I have a Yamaha 85hp with weird numbers, cv85EL, 688. Can't find a lot of info on it. I am hoping to convert it to power trim. Does anyone know about compatibility of swapping complete units or brackets. I found a 75hp with a good unit, but not sure of fit : C75TLRU, 692

Thanks for any input

Re: Power trim compatibilty

Nothing weird at all about the model number CV85. Yamaha offered this model in 1989 and 1990. In two versions. One with power trim and tilt and one with just a shock absorber.

Just go to the Yamaha parts catalog at PMPro Consumer then select "outboards", then "85-75HP", then "C85" and finally "CV85ELF" or any of the other CV85 models. You will see every part number of every item that is used on that model.

You can then compare part numbers of the bracket components between the ptt version and the non-ptt version to determine any differences. Once the differences are known, you will have a handle on what is required to convert your non-ptt version CV85 to a ptt version CV85.

Capiche?

Thanks a lot, this helps. I will look into it. Maybe it will be easiest to just swap brackets and all together?!

Re: Power trim compatibilty

probably easier to just sell your motor and buy one with the T&T
That old of a motor may be a bear to take apart to change out parts
