My 1995 70 hp Johnson power trim quit working today...I was able to lower the motor but not raise it back up....does any one know how the manual release works....do i take out the snap ring??........
sounds like low on fluid, have someone work the switch while you lift all the way, use the locks, and fill resovior, then let down, and do it over and over until full, then cycle it a couple of times.
No. Do not remove the snap ring. Is the down solenoid clicking? It will be the one with a GREEN wire going to it. If not just switch with the UP (BLUE wire going to it) if all goes well, you have a bad solenoid. This is one of the quickest ways to check. The set screw is on the side of the trim ram.
Does it at least make a clicking sound when you hit the switch? If not I would swap the 2 relays and see if it now goes the other way. That would mean you have a bad relay.
Manual release is the screw on the port side not the O-Ring. Loosen it 3 turns and you should be able to manually lift the motor.
Ok...my motor will go down but not up...it still turns the motor on when it is all the way down....but it doesnt do anything when i hit the up button either on the control or at the motor....doesn't click or anything.......help
sounds like relays or low fluid.Have you been hearing a screaching noise lately while going up or down(fluid). Also make sure your battery is fully charged. test it how everyone is describing and you will find it.
