I have a Mercury outboard with a Electric Hydraulic power trim and tilt system. The electric motor runs in both the up and down directions but the unit does not raise the motor in either direction. I pulled the electric motor unit off to make sure the hex pin between the motor and pump was not broke. The pin is fine. I reassembled everything and again, the motor works both ways but does nothing to raise or lower the motor. the motor is full of trim oil. any ideas? Thanks...

You don't say what year or size motor.
Has it ever worked for you?
Is this the type that has the pump mounted in the boat?

If so, there's a manual valve that may have been activated.
Valve should be turned counter clockwise for normal operation.

It is a 2007 Mercury 4-stroke 40hp ELPT the unit is mounted to the motor bracket of the motor that secures to the transom. the electric motor / pump and cylinder are mounted together as a unit. The manual valve was the first thing i checked to make sure it was closed. Thank you for your quick response, I appreciate your help...

The unit worked ok when I put the boat up last fall for winter storage, when I took it out of storage, now it won't work. could it possibly be air bound for some reason? If so how would I bleed off the air? Thanks...

I have CMC plate. Worked great for couple years.

Last season would only go up and down very slow and nowhere near normal.

Followed mfg details and filled unit with oil.

Now works fine in both directions.

No idea wh fluid level became low?
