Power trim/tilt issues...

Here's the story...

I have an 85 Wellcraft with a two rocker switch, instrument panel mounted trim/tilt setup.

The upper is "Tilt" the lower "Trim"

So...

I could use the bottom rocker(trim) to lower the unit...which it did without hesitation, until recently
Using the bottom rocker(pushing it "up") to raise the unit did nothing so I just used the upper rocker(tilt) as trim, to raise the unit on demand.

I decided to check all of the connections on the backside to see if there were any bad/loose wiring.

I went to lower the unit and it DID lower/raise...but then the internals of the button broke and it caused the unit to lower full down, the button did not turn the pump of and the motor continued to run for the time it took me to get back to the battery and disconnect the power...about 10 seconds.

I then removed the rocker button and disassembled it, sure enough the little spring loaded "nubs" had came out of the plastic rocker assembly and jammed it "on". I reassembled it but now it won't lower...only raise to the trim limit stop and then I was able to raise it full up tilt up with the upper(tilt) rocker. When I go to lower it now I only hear "click click" coming from the pump motor.

Now, since the motor was running up to the point the power was cut, I'm guess the motor didn't "burn out" because there was no smoke or horrible sounds. The assembly was a little warm...but not hot, to the touch.

Is there anywhere I can get a new switch, or any ideas on how to fabricate another one?

Read this troubleshooting info for your trim. Wiring diagrams on the last pages.

Thanks...I pulled the connections on the solenoid, cleaned them all and it(lower rocker/trim switch) works intermittently. This leads me to believe it's just the switch. I checked Radio Shack...What a useless place THAT'S become. If you need a cell phone, flat screen TV or a scanner fine, but try to find components forget it. I remember the "good ole days" when RS was the ONLY place to get resistors/diodes/ almost anything you needed to repair electric/electronic devices. NOW...can't even find an on-off-on rocker switch.
