I got an old Yamaha 60/70 hp -88 (works like a dream and won’t be stolen). Problem right now is that engine is sinking very slowly when it is on either trim pistons or tilt piston. It was recently serviced, had a leaking tilt piston fixed/PT motor replaced
I have purged the system to let out air and it helped 1st time but now it is back (didn’t help 2nd time. In the beginning there was clicking sound when it was sinking. No external leak of oil.

Manual valve is not smooth when you tighten the screw, it stops immediately and you can’t turn it more (not sure if this got to do with the problem)

Does anyone have a clue where to start searching for the problem?

Cheers

Sudden

At that age the problem is likely to be caused by a worn valve in the hydraulics, however I would first replace the manual valve screw.

Do you mean replacing the actual screw that is secured by the snap ring? Shall I leave the rest? It says in the repair manual that it is very tricky to remove the rest.

Cheers

Peter
