I have a 93 johnson88 that does not have power trim. I also have the mounting bracket and power trim from a 87 evinrude 90 hp. There are only 2 wires from the power trim. Is it a big deal to get that working on the johnson? Or does the motor have to factory wired for it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fairly easy installation .----But you need the relay box that mounts on the motor block. ---Need the switches for the handle.------This stuff was the same for many years and depending on your location they are easy to find.

I would say one thing right around the early 90s they went to the fastrac unit. I do know the units themselves don't interchange you may want to check just to make sure the bracket assembly interchanges. Racer might know

Racerone, I still have the relay box from the evinrude. I striped the powerhead because of a compression problem....the evinrude ate a piston ring. Then I found out the cost to resleeve so I bought the johnson.( I didn't want to put $800 in a '87 engine.) I am using the evinrude controls which have the power trim switch. So I should just wire that relay box in? And I want to say Thanks for your input . Your a real asset to the forum.
