On my 85 Johnson 150 the base gasket needs to be replaced. Starting to blow a bit of crap where the pull rope is sitting and I can see that there is a bad spot in the gasket in this area.My question is, is this a big job? An outboard mechanic says it is about a 2 hour job. Any comments.

Re: Powerhead base gasket question

I had mine in 2 years ago. It took 1.5 hours labor and minimal cost for gasket, so he sounds about right even though I have not done this myself.
