that sounds pretty iffy.... like if yer wrong, poof, there goes yer drive.....i guess its the "fish scale type" lol
I dont know, it sounds way too complicated for me. maybe i will have to spend and arm and a leg to let a dealership do it. as much as i hate to,![]()
if you use this forum for questions. if you follow the exact method for servicing per the mercruiser service manual for yer rig. and use the proper tools, i think you can be successful. but you just can't sub fish scales and string a for inch pound torque wrenches that's accurate + or - 2%. it took me 2 months to R&R my yoke seal and r&r the drive gear yoke brgs. granted i wasn't working on it all the time. but i was thinking about it and what i was gonna do. i ask many questions here. i decided what was good advise and what wasn't. i read my service manual a lot. over and over till i understood what i was getting ready to do. i made sure i used the proper tools. the ones i didn't have i got somehow. but i did get them. it's critical..... the consequence or being a slacker and doing it half way i'm convinced will end in failure.... do it proper or do farm it out...... and if ya do it yerself. be sure and ask questions here. i think the folks here just want to help. i know that's my only goal. kinda like payback for all the help i've received from this forum and it's members who have helped me so much. they know who they are. a thank you isn't enough. use their experience and knowledge to yer advantage......I dont know, it sounds way too complicated for me.
