Pressure tank or explosion waiting to happen??

This evening while leafing through ebay I saw a "pressure tank" that was not like anything I have seen before.It was a metal tank with the sixties seahorse emblem on it and instead of the one line hookup,what looked to me like a pressure tank quick connector screwed into the tank.<br />Was there ever such a thing as a two line hookup going to 2 different engines,with the double connection on the tank, or was this a homegrown pressure tank which might feasibly explode because of overpressure??

dont know without looking at it. I always converted them. the "pressure" they used to pressurize the tank was a chemically correct air fuel mix under pressure. as the tank emptied the tank became a potential bomb. so since the late 70's I just converted them to single lines with fuel pumps. making your own pressure tank is not difficult the old jonnyrude tanks were rather simple as well.

Any gas tank can be a potential bomb. Ever open a single line OMC tank on a hot day? They'll build up pressure with the best of them. I always release the fuel pressure on a pressure tank when not in use.<br /><br />The dual line system is about as reliable as you can get, although I don't know about the one seen on eBay, as I didn't find it in a quick search. Rebuild kits are readily available for the tanks.<br /><br />- Scott

Never no problems on my pressurized system. I to always release pressure after a day on the water. I get more of a gas smell from my other motor thats a vented tank than my other motor that still has the prssurized system.

I have 2 original 50s pressure tanks and I love them.<br />This one however was a 1960 regular tank with just the pressure tank quick connector on it.
