I bought my boat and the trim button works, but the tilt did not. Looking around i found that the trim control module (black box under the dash) had a burn mark in the side of it. Also one of the green/white wires going to it was cut. The trim button gives me full range of the lower unit, but my gauge and tilt buttons do not function.

I bought a brand new trim control module and plugged it in and I have absolutely not function at all, even with the green white wire reconnected. None of the relays fire like they would with the old burned up unit.

I talked to the previous owner and he said that a volvo dealer bypassed the trim module to get it to work. Does anyone know about this? What they would have done? I would like to get this thing working again, but dont know how. I would love to have the trim gauge working.

Thank you,

It still has both relays at the pump. Both are new and hooked up. There are also two relays under the dash with this black box.

You should be able to hook up your trim sender directly to the gauge. That is if course if the sender is still working which I doubt.
