Pricing when parting out a motor

I have never parted out a motor, and I'm curious about how to set prices of components. What is the rule here? Is it (some %) x (price of new part) - (penalty for age) or something?

Or I guess you could just check the going rate on closed listings at EBay.

What is the thinking here?

the way i look at it, is, i have a motor that is basically worthless, and in the way. i cover my time to take it apart, the listing and selling fees. anything more i profit. if it is a item you know is in short supply, like the solenoids for electric shift motors, then i do a higher starting price.

If you just put it on eBay with no reserve it will bring what it is worth.

The marinas around here use a standard 1/2 Retail of new for "as new" used parts, .ie parts that don't show much, if any wear & tear...
