prime bulb,charging?

I have a 1989 force 150hp i'm wanting to change the prime bulb would it be alright to put a universal one on or is it going to make the motor not run right? The universal has a bigger size bulb.also i would like to know what the voltage should be showing at the battery at idle. I show 12.54v with a fully charged battery. thanx

Bulb fine, just make sure ya get the right one for your hoses..probably 3/8ths..and look for the arrow so you put it in the right way
Put a meter on the batt..start it up...you should get an increase regardless..
