Re: priming seahorse 18

I know I need the manuals. Just been trying to see if the motor will fire.
I want to thank all who helped.
Last night I fianally tried the bb trick and there was a mollasis like substance that only stuck to the bb's.
So i finally took her apart and used a skinny wire brush taped to a stick, and it worked great.
then cleaned out all the valves and filter.
IT WORKS GREAT NOW.
now its time to see if the motor will fire.

Thanks again for all help.

For the BB thing to work you have to put a solvent of some sort or gas in the tank too.

Ten,

I think I have the same motor, and probably the same tank. Mine has a black push button on the tank that you push down. It is spring loaded and comes back up by itself then you push it down again, pumping on the downstroke. Ebay usually has a few pressure tanks, but I just checked and found none. I did find however the cork gasket for the tank. If you search for outboard fuel tank, you will also see orings for the connector fitting. I got new orings myself from my local omc dealer. Try yours out. You will be surprized at what they have for that motor, including new double fuel line.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2160654411&category=423

Again, there is no vent. The tank be the fuel pump.

Dang it. First rule is to read all preceding posts. I see you solved the problem prior to my post.

There were a couple of different pump plunger styles over the years. Yours had the early style. As previously mentioned regarding the style pump you have, it is imperitave that you can rotate the plunger knob by hand before pumping it. If the knob (button) will not rotate freely, the pump diaphram will be damaged when you pump the knob. The replacement parts are hard to find & can be expensive. Glad you got yours working!

FWIW there are several pressure tanks on ebay right now...no, none of them are mine;) Around $60 + shipping seems to be the going price these days.
